Water Avenue Outfall Replacement Project Update: Survey work expected in the coming weeks

Environmental Services is designing a project to replace a deteriorating, 12-inch pipe which conveys stormwater runoff from a central eastside neighborhood to the Willamette River. The existing pipe runs from the intersection of SE Water Avenue and Clay Street to the river. Replacing the pipe will reduce the risk of leaks and backups. Environmental Services is still designing the project, including the alignment of the new pipe.

Slabtown Sewer Replacement Project Update: November 10, 2015

Environmental Services is planning a project in northwest Portlands Slabtown district to replace and upsize aging sewer pipes. Installing larger pipes will accommodate current and projected wastewater flows and make the sewer system more reliable. Construction crews will also repair laterals that connect properties to the sewer system, replace stormwater inlets and repair several manholes throughout the project area.

This project will replace and upsize the public sewers in streets, repair laterals that connect properties to the sewer system, replace stormwater inlets and inlet pipes, and repair several manholes throughout the project area. The neighborhood-wide project will increase sewer system capacity and protect water quality and the environment.

Balch Conduit Support Sewer Replacement Project Update: September 3, 2015

Environmental Services contractor is constructing a project that will replace sewer pipes in poor condition and relieve street flooding and basement sewer backups in the area bounded by NW Yeon Avenue, NW 29th Avenue, NW Nicolai Avenue, and NW St. Helens Road. The project includes diverting stormwater to the Balch Conduit sewer pipe, and replacing dams in the Balch Outfall pipe to prevent Willamette River water from backing up into the pipe during heavy rain events.
