Thor Ind. Reports Record Revenue, Income in 3Q

Elkhart Ind.-based Thor Industries Inc. today announced record sales and net income from continuing operations for the third quarter, ended April 30, compared with very strong results from the third quarter of fiscal 2014. Sales from continuing operations for the third quarter of fiscal 2015 were $1.17 billion, up 12% from $1.05 billion in the third quarter last year, as sales of both towable and motorized RVs posted gains from a year ago.

Joy Global buys French firm, reports drop in sales and profits

The slow-down in coal and copper mining, combined with low commodity prices, dragged down sales of Joy Global Inc. mining equipment in the second quarter of 2015, the company said Thursday. The company, based in Milwaukee, sought to add revenue through the purchase of Montabert SAS, a French business that produces heavy equipment for hard rock mining and excavation.

LA Times: After lagging during the first part of the year, water conservation in California improved significantly in April following Gov. Jerry Brown`s historic order requiring big cuts in water use amid the worsening drought. Water use in April dropped 13.5%, compared with the same month in 2013, a sign that residents and urban water suppliers were taking Brown`s dire conservation calls seriously. Despite the improvement, the state has a long way to go to meet the 25% cut Brown ordered on April 1....
