Perhaps we,the florists should not rely on wire service orders, cultivate your local customers...get a site on the internet, get an 800 number....you can survive with out a wire service...reconnect with your local customer.

Ellen, exactly. No florist should rely on incoming orders to base their business on, and in fact many may not have a need for any type of wire service at all. Local, direct customer contact will generate the best potential growth for any florist.

I should add a disclaimer to this post, that as of this date, Teleflora has not really gotten into the "Drop Ship" program in the methods we traditionally consider bypassing the Real Florist. Their site does not show items like their counterpart in Downers Grove that truely eliminate the florist from the loop. Kudos to Teleflora for this, we'll keep an eye on it...

Michael... Thanks for the Kudo's. We take great pride in our sites as they do take a concerted effort by several individuals to make happen. Like you mentioned, sadly many do not do the math that they should, but as more and more florists are getting connected the information is spreading. Regarding Bloomnet, one has to decide for themselves. Bloomnet has come out with some interesting changes to the old models, but sadly not really a "new model". That too, is something *we* hope top rectify this summer. Thanks again.
