2 workers rescued after construction accident in downtown Birmingham

The site is on 7th Avenue North and 17th Street North behind Alabama Power headquarters. The accident happened shortly before 2 p.m. Fire officials said two men were underground doing some work for SouthernLINC when a 5-ton steel plate came loose and injured them.
