The Leon County Sheriff's Office Financial Crimes Unit began working several investigations in reference to counterfeit checks drawn off of a local business and being cashed at Publix Super Markets in July 2015. The counterfeit check ring consisted of eight individuals who passed nine counterfeit checks at different Publix Super Markets throughout Tallahassee all drawn off of the same business account.
