Units suit unprotected locations, such as outdoor applications, where cooling fans receive direct contact with rain, snow or excessive moisture, fog or ocean spray. Under UL-507, wet location approvals involve testing for environmental situations that include water spray, humidity conditioning, sealing compound, and thermal cycling as well as UV radiation testing.
