AIT Engineer Earthcare Instruments mf The Challenge We are looking for an experienced assemble integration and test AIT engineer to join Terma GmbHs space activity located at Astriums premises in Friedrichshafen, Germany, monitoring the prime contractor of ESAs EarthCARE satellite, primarily for the Cloud Profiling Radar CPR instrument. The CPR instrument is developed by the Japanese Space Agency JAXA and is provided to Astrium for integration and testing with the EarthCARE satellite and its other 3 payloads. The AIT Engineer tasksresponsibilities will include Analysis of instrument documentation Preparation of test specifications and procedures and other related documents Writing test sequences Execution and analysis of tests Writing test reports Supporting meetings and reviews internally and with the customer and Instrument supplier. The candidate must also be prepared to travel in and outside Europe to support these activities. We anticipate trips of several months to Japan. This is an existing, fulltime position and can begin immediately. Your Qualifications Applicants shall have a university degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, such as computer science, physics, mathematics or aerospace engineering. Candidates shall have demonstrated experience of spacecraftpayload development and related ground testing, in particular At least two years recent experience of spacecraft AIT activities preferably in the instrument and payload domain Previous use of OpenCentre andor SCOS2K based checkout systems and test sequence production and execution would be a distinct advantage Demonstrated experience in the development, production and validation of instrument and spacecraft test procedures including operation procedures Good working knowledge of the ECSSEST7041C packet utilisation standard and MilBus 1553B protocol utilised in the Spacecraft domain Familiarity with SCOS2K mission control system and the MOIS procedure development system Engineering expertise in the development and operations of satellite platform or instruments Experience with development and validation of operational spacecraft procedures for nominal and contingencyrecovery cases Experience with LEO satellite mission activity planningscheduling Familiarity with nonconformance handling, procedure change control process and configuration management of spacecraft operations systems Engineering knowledge of earth observation mission payloads, in particular for radar and imagery would be beneficial but not essential Programming skills and excellent computer literacy with MS Office packages. Organisational and communication skills, the ability to perform calmly and effectively under pressure, and autonomy are all among the character traits we are looking for. You would be working in a multinational environment, where the working language is English, and you would need spoken and written fluency in that language. A working knowledge of German would also be an advantage.
