They are based at Terma premises in Denmark, Germany and The Netherlands as well as numerous customer sites around Europe. The Mission Our customer is an independent intergovernmental organisation created in 1986 to establish, maintain and exploit European systems of operational meteorological satellites. Around 300 staff and a similar number of consultants are working on location in Darmstadt, Germany, cooperating in the operation of a variety of geostationary weather satellites and low earth orbiting observation platforms. The Challenge We are looking for AIT Engineer to be located at the customer site, in Darmstadt, Germany. The AIT Engineer Mission Control System Integration and Verification would join Terma GmbHs activity as a full time employee, supporting the routine ground segment operations of our customers lowearth orbiting and geostationary satellites as well as contributing to operational preparation for future missions. Prime responsibilities relate to integration and verification testing of the monitoring and control system, with additional support for integration and verification activities at mission control function level, including flight dynamics and mission planning systems. Typical tasks include Assembly and integration of the monitoring and control system. This can be expected to include software deployment, software configuration, adjustment of interfaces, analysis and solution to problems, etc Generation and updates of test plan and test procedures at both the monitoring and control system and mission control function level. This activity covers functional verification testing and nonregression testing manual and automatic testing Execution and coordination of software verification and nonregression testing campaigns. This activity includes running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports, analysis of results, troubleshooting of problems, etc. Generation of test data and test tools that facilitate the software verification and nonregression testing Maintaining the verification status of the software requirement baseline for the monitoring and control system Preventive and corrective maintenance including the investigation of anomalies in the software systems and verification testing of the fixes Generation and updates of technical documents, routine reporting and meeting participation Analysis activities focused on a common software engineering methodology and common software engineering tools for the GSI mission control applications and tools team Development of tools supporting these common software engineering methodologies Software support software support to the endusers of the application software Training prepare and provide training covering endusage and maintenance aspects of the mission control facilities. This is a fulltime position with a planned starting date in November 2013. Your Qualifications Applicants shall have an university degree, preferably in aerospace, electronics or physics or other suitable qualification together with some professional experience in spacecraft andor operational applications. Essential skills are A university degree in a relevant engineering discipline 3 years experience in the integration of satellite monitoring and control systems, including software deployment, software configuration, adjustment of interfaces and troubleshooting of problems both at subsystem and system level 3 years experience in verification testing of satellite monitoring and control systems according to formal software engineering processes. This includes requirement verification, generation of test plan and test procedures, nonregression testing, generation of test data, generation of test tools, running the test procedures on the target system and generation of test reports 5 years experience in the investigation of software anomalies and verification testing of fixes, preferably in the domain of satellite monitoring and control systems Experience using tools for the automation of software testing Experience with software applications maintenance according to formal software engineering processes including configuration management, change management and anomaly reporting and tracking Experience in developing and maintaining software applications using both Java and C under UNIX operating systems Experience with static and dynamic software analysis tools in support to testing and troubleshooting Very good knowledge of MS Windows Office Suite applications and experience with documentation management systems Experience in using configuration management and anomaly reporting and tracking tools Fluency in English, both in speech and writing is mandatory. Desirable skills are Knowledge and understanding of standards ECSS and CCSDS related to spacetoground interfaces and applicable to satellite monitoring and control systems Packet Telemetry and Telecommand standards, PUS Packet Utilisation Standard, etc Experience with monitoring and control systems for LEO spacecraft Experience with ESAs MICONYS control system software Experience with EPOCH IPS MC product suite from Integral Systems now Kratos Knowledge of flight dynamics systems Knowledge of mission planning systems Experience with satellite simulators Knowledge of the IBM DOORS requirement management tool Experience with version control systems, particularly CVS and SVN Experience with the Linux Operating System Experience with software applications using ODBCJDBC bridges and programmatic interfaces to MySQL RDBMS Experience with engineering of MySQL RDBMS Experience with administration of MySQL RDBMS Experience with interprocess communication mechanisms, in particular TCPIP and CORBA standards Experience with XML processing schema design, validation, parser libraries, transformation XSLT and XPath Experience with the Eclipse Rich Client Platform applications development Previous experience with the EPS mission control system andor the mission control facility andor multimission tools Specific knowledge of the EUMETSAT missions EPS, EPSSG, Sentinel3, MTG and JasonCS Previous successful consultancy to EUMETSAT or engagement with other, similar organization Knowledge of quality management and maintenance procedures as implemented at EUMETSAT Basic ability with the French language. A goal oriented attitude with a good level of communication skills and the ability to work effectively and independently in a flexible integrated team, including during periods of high pressure are all among the traits we are looking for.
