AIT Engineer mf The Mission We seek an Engineer to contribute to spacecraft electrical assembly, integration and verification for the Solar Orbiter mission. The Challenge The Solar Orbiter is approaching the critical design review. The upcoming tasks correspond are typical tasks for phases leading up to launch, which is scheduled for 2017. Sample tasks include Produce test procedures, test requirements, test reports, DDV plans, etc. Logistical management of all project electrical ground support equipment, flight hardware and support equipment Electrical integration and automated test at equipment, subsystem and system level Development of automatic test procedures Definition of electrical test aids. Oversight of their procurement, manufacture and validation Pyrotechnic handling, installation and safety management Electrical ground support equipment commissioning and validation o Produce preventative maintenance procedures for validation o Configure and commission a dedicated small EGSE LAN o The design and procurement of EGSE test aids o Provide EGSE user training and support Electrical ground support equipment maintenance o Preventative maintenance thru operation of validation procedures o Corrective maintenance activities first line support o Software and operating system support of the central EGSE test systems. o First level EGSE debugging o Configuration and control of EGSE documentation and software. o EGSE reconfiguration corresponding to changes in the spacecraft design. o Configuration and control of the EGSE General reporting, meeting participation, etc. This is a fulltime position with a planned starting date in mid of June 2014 TBC. The work will take place at our Customers site at Astrium in Stevenage. There is a circa 10 month long support requirement in either Toulouse or Noordwijk. Your Qualifications Applicants shall have an university or polytechnic degree, preferably in aerospace, electronics or physics or other suitable qualification together with some professional experience in spacecraft andor operational applications. The ideal candidate will have 25 years relevant experience in spacecraft AIT electrical. Essential skills are 25 years professional experience supporting electrical subsystem AI, including as many as of the above mentioned tasks. Familiarity with relevant portions of the ECSS suite of standards Fluency in English, both in speech and writing is mandatory. Desirable skills are Previous experience in a similar consultancy role, i.e., as resident consultant operating onsite within a customer organisation Some exposure to the Astrium organisation, especially AstriumStevenage Possession of documentationpermits for working and living in the UK Previous exposure to the UK, or else previous experience living outside your home country for nonEnglish applicants or else extensive experience working with international partners. The position requires a great deal of independence and selfmotivation. The candidate should be able to work with little supervision, but also be able to contribute to the team effort.
