Location ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands Description AIV Assembly, Integration Verification Engineer in the Test Support Section, ESTEC Test Centre Division, Mechanical Department, Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality. The Test Support Section provides functional support to ESA projects and carries out technological research RD in the domain of AIVAIT. Duties Reporting to the Head of the Section and within the technical fields described above, the main tasks and responsibilities of the post holder will be providing expert technical support and consultancy to ESA projects, programmes and general studies in the field of AIVAIT throughout all project phases, in particular capturing and reviewing requirements related to the satellite AIVAIT phase and following their implementation ensuring the definition and implementation of a satellite AIV programme which meets technical and programmatic requirements and considers the adequacy of model philosophy, facilities, planning and costing supporting the preparation, organisation and execution of launch campaigns providing engineering support for test planning, test preparation, test execution and test result analysis for mechanical, thermal and electromagnetic testing of satellite systemssubsystems supporting definition and feasibility studies run in the Concurrent Design Facility at ESTEC participating in project reviews and evaluation of procurement proposals, in particular with respect to launch services and ground support equipment identifying critical development problems and assisting in their resolution participating in the development of engineering standards defining, initiating and managing RD activities covering both long and shortterm needs fostering new application areas for multidisciplinary activities, placing emphasis on innovative concepts, cuttingedge technologies and system architectures monitoring applicable scientific and technological trends and maintaining stateoftheart expertise contributing to the dissemination of the results of the activities performed and the transfer of knowledge across the agency Technical competencies General background and specific experience in the technical domains covered by the position Handson hardware experience Project support experience in a relevant domain Experience with laboratory or field testing of relevant technical equipment Experience in the preparation of procurement activities for technology development and innovation statements of work, proposal evaluation, etc Experience in the management and monitoring of industrial activities, including participation in reviews Experience with Space Engineering Standards and their preparation and implementation Behavioural competencies Communication Customer Focus Ambassadorship Problem Solving Innovation Creativity Results Orientation Additional requirements Candidates are required to have knowledge andor experience in the following domains Environmental testing of space hardware Satellite verification engineering Mechanical ground support equipment MGSE Environmental testing tools and infrastructure ESA and industrial development, verification and procurement processes Launch campaign preparation and execution ECSS standards. Solid experience in satellite level AIVAIT and environmental verification testing is required, as well as experience of at least one complete satellite test and launch campain in an AITAIV role. Education Applicants should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in aerospace or mechanical engineering. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset. The Agency may require applicants to undergo selection tests.
