We are currently looking for an AIX System Engineer to support our customer in Germany. AIX System Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climaterelated satellite data, images and products for its users. In this role you will have the following responsibilities Installation and configuration of operating system and other software Analysis, planning and performance tuning of Hardware HW and Software SW installations, ensuring compatibility between subsystems Monitoring of the system performance, investigation of HW and system SW problems and performance of the relevant corrective actions Ensuring that in case of HW or system SW failures the operational configuration can be restored, including the definition, maintenance, performance of backup procedures Liaise with the external providers of HW and system SW maintenance for the request and follow up of maintenance interventions Perform administration and installation of databases Administration of user accounts Support to SW development and maintenance on system related matters Implementation and maintenance of scripts andor procedures Provision of standbyoncall support Provision of support, as required, to critical operations. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in computer science Extensive experience in the administration and troubleshooting of distributed systems with strong IT system design skills Knowledge and handson experience with operating systems AIX 6.1 7.1 and IBM virtualization and administration and configuration of IBM pSeries using HMC and AMM Definition, implementation, testing and documentation of endtoend system changes Experience in the installation, administration and troubleshooting of some of the following would be an advantage distributed File System GPFS, high availability software IBM PowerHA, PowerVC, experience with the monitoring tools based on Nagios VMWare Virtualization Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
