ASTM Leather Committee approves finish stability test standard.

ASTM D7912, Test Method for Resistance of Finish to Heat Aging (Finish Stability), details test for predicting long-term performance of leather article. Applicable to leather articles ranging from gloves and footwear to upholstery used in automobiles and aircraft, test will indicate presence of cracks, parting of finish from leather, and tackiness after specimen has been tested in circulating air oven. Users will include leather producers, end use manufacturers, and testing laboratories.
