Acer CEO resigns, co-founder to take over
2013-11-21 14:37:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Just weeks after dismissing its CEO, Acer has now lost his replacement and brought back company co-founder Stan Shih to lead the group. Shih, who earlier this month was named head of a 'transformation' committee at Acer, will now take over as chairman and interim corporate president with immediate effect. J.T. Wang, who earlier stepped down as CEO but was to remain chairman, and Jim Wong, corporate president and CEO designate, have both resigned, "in light of the company's recent performance", Acer said. The company added that their resignations were "reluctantly accepted by the board", and the two will stay on as advisers during a transitional period. Acer aims to name a new corporate president as soon as possible, but has decided to do away with the CEO role, in order to streamline decision-making. Shih said he would take on the position at no salary, leading the transformation of the company with the help of his co-founder, George Huang.
