The Flint, Michigan, drinking water contamination crisis might just be a lifesaver by spurring agencies from the federal government to local communities to step up efforts to get lead out of water systems. The problem of high levels of toxic lead still in drinking water was highlighted after Flint - in an effort to save money two years ago - switched its water source from Detroit to the Flint River.
