Aircel, Vodafone India cut rates after Nepal earthquake

2015-04-26 14:43:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) In the wake of the earthquake in Nepal, Indian mobile operator Aircel will offer free calls to Nepal on 27 and 28 April. The facility has been extended to all prepaid and postpaid Aircel customers across India for the next 48 hours, in light of the vulnerable situation prevailing in Nepal after the massive earthquake. Additionally, those customers travelling to Nepal during this time will also get Free Incoming while Roaming into Nepal for the next 48 hours. Aircel will in addition waive off International Roaming Rental Deduction for its prepaid customers. Vodafone India said that all calls made from its network from anywhere in India to Nepal will be charged as per local rate. This means calls will cost INR 1 per minute against the regular rate of INR 12 per minute, with immediate effect up to 10.00 am to 28 April.
