Allegheny Technologies reports fourth quarter profit

Allegheny Technologies today reported a fourth quarter profit of $22.1 million, or 20 cents per share, as the company recorded a $25.5 million pre-tax gain as the result of freezing pension plans and eliminating retiree life and medical insurance benefits. Sales rose 14 percent to $1.05 billion.
