Amazon combines Prime, LoveFilm Instant services

(Telecompaper) Amazon is combining the Amazon Prime and LoveFilm Instant subscription services in the UK from 26 February. Amazon Prime offers members unlimited one-day delivery on more than 7 million items and access to 500,000 Kindle books to borrow. LoveFilm Instant includes unlimited streaming of more than 15,000 popular movies and TV episodes. When the two services combine, Prime will be offered for GBP 79 a year, a saving of 35 percent compared to the two previously separate services. As a special offer, for one week only, new customers can secure a full year of Prime at GBP 49. As LoveFilm Instant becomes Prime Instant Video, Amazon is also boosting its investment in exclusive content and original programming only available through Prime. This new combined service is also being rolled out in Germany, with Prime Instant Video costing EUR 49 per year there, a 56 percent saving compared to the two separate services. Customers signing up early can get Prime for EUR 29 for 12 months.
