Amazon to launch Prime Video in Japan

2015-08-27 10:36:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Amazon announced plans to launch its Prime Video service in Japan in September, at the same time as Netflix starts in the country. Prime subscribers will pay the same price of JPY 3,900 per year for the delivery benefits from Amazon and now also receive unlimited access to a streaming video service. Amazon said the Japanese service would include local and international content, including its original productions, music videos, anime and popular TV series. The service works on Android and iOS smartphones and tablets, Amazon's own Fire tablet and range of games consoles and smart TVs. It will also include 4K content. Amazon said the service launch will be accompanied by an advertising campaign in Tokyo.
