(Telecompaper) America Movil and Telefonica's infrastructure subsidiary Telxius have announced plans to roll out a new 7,300 km submarine cable along the Pacific coast of Latin America. The two largest telecommunication groups in Latin America said the cable will connect Puerto San Jose (Guatemala) with Valparaiso (Chile) and have additional landing points in Salinas (Ecuador), Lurin (Peru) and Arica (Chile). It will have an initial estimated capacity of 108 Tbps with six fibre pairs offering the lowest possible latency between Guatemala and Chile, combined with the highest levels of service, reliability and security, said the partners in a joint statement.
