Anadarko Petroleum is ordered to pay $159.5M in environmental penalties for its role as part-owner of the Macondo well that caused the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill. U.S. District Judge Barbier, who could have charged APC $3.5B for the spill, said the company "bears no culpability" in the accident and "there is seemingly no reason to punish Anadarko."
