(Telecompaper) Apple announced that over 50 percent of its customers have downloaded iOS 9, the latest version of its operating system for the iPhone. The new software launched on 16 September and was already in use on more than 50 percent of devices as of 19 September, Apple said, adding this is the fastest adoption of an iOS release ever for the company. The company also confirmed that the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be in stores from 25 September in select countries. The company did not provide details on the amount of pre-orders for the new smartphones, which started 12 September, nor did it say when the iPhones will reach more countries. Both models will be available in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the UK and the US from 25 September. Beginning 26 September, customers in the US, China, Hong Kong and Japan will be able to visit Apple.com to reserve their iPhone for pick-up at their local Apple Store, based on availability. Most Apple stores will also have iPhones available for walk-in customers each day.
