(Telecompaper) Apple announced a record number of first day pre-orders of its new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones. Over 4 million of the phones were ordered in the first 24 hours. Demand for the new iPhones exceeds the initial pre-order supply, meaning not all customers will receive their phones on the first day available. Apple said some phones will still be available for purchase in stores on the launch day of 19 September. Customers are encouraged to arrive early or order online from the Apple Online Store to pick up in-store or receive an estimated delivery date. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be available in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK beginning 19 September and in more than 20 additional countries from 26 September.
