(Telecompaper) Apple's next iPhone will use modems from Intel, replacing Qualcomm chips in some versions of the new handset, Bloomberg reported, saying Apple wants to its supplier base. Apple has chosen Intel modem chips for the iPhone used on AT&T's US network and some other versions of the smartphone for overseas markets, sources said. IPhones on Verizon Communications' network will remain with with parts from Qualcomm. iPhones sold in China will also work on Qualcomm chips, the sources added.
