Arrium takes $1.3b hit from mine shutdown

Arrium has flagged more than $1.3 billion in writedowns after deciding to close one of its two South Australian mining precincts in response to falling iron ore prices. The iron ore miner, formerly known as OneSteel will mothball its Southern Iron mining operations in South Australia and focus on its lower-cost Middleback Ranges operations.
