As San Francisco offices fill up, rents rise sharply in Oakland

As San Francisco's office supply dwindles, more companies are looking east to Oakland, lifting rents and filling older buildings, according to brokerage reports. The overall Oakland office vacancy rate fell to 9.4 percent in the second quarter, the lowest level since 2007, according to brokerage JLL.
