As Swine Show Season Approaches, what are Some of the Things you and your Family will do to get Ready?

From the North American International Livestock Exposition to the National Junior Swine Association’s Summer Spectacular, the swine show circuit is an important aspect to many young people with an interest in the hog industry. A big focus this year will be on the disinfection of barns and show equipment before, during and after each show to help reduce the risk of our pigs getting porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV). The show pigs are placed on a restricted diet that will help get them conditioned for show. We go through our herd, and select the best hogs to show that will represent our farm, as well as our operation as a whole.
