2014-01-07 13:30:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Asus has unveiled a new hybrid laptop-tablet that runs both Windows 8.1 and Android OS. The Transformer Book Duet (TD300) allows users to switch between Windows and Android in either laptop or tablet modes in just four seconds, Asus claims. They can switch between OS by pressing the Instant Switch button or using a virtual key on the tablet. No OS virtualisation is used, allowing users to benefit from the full power of Intel Core i7 processor with either OS. The device comes with 4GB of DDR3L 1600 RAM, a 13.3-inch IPS touchscreen with 1920x1080 resolution, USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, HDMI and a LAN port. The tablet offers 128 GB SSD storage plus room for a 64 GB microSD card, and the keyboard dock expands storage to a 1TB hard disk. For connectivity, the T300 comes with 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. It also has a front-facing camera for video chats. Pricing and availability details will be released at a later date.
