When designer Oscar de la Renta died last week at 82, he left behind something of a rarity in today's fashion industry: a successful, family-run company that has remained independent from conglomerates. Without Mr. de la Renta, whose visions exemplified haute couture, some are concerned his namesake brand might not retain its loyal following.
