Austin Energy substation fails; thousands lose power

Austin Energy says more than 5,600 hundred people have lost power in north Austin after a failure at their Tech Ridge substation along Howard Lane, just east of I-35. The outage began at 12:22 p.m., and mostly affects people east between I-35 on the west, Dessau Road on the east, Parmer Lane on the south, and Wells Branch Parkway on the north.
