Australian govt may step in to stop Chinese companies buying Digicel

In May last year, long-struggling operator Digicel filed for bankruptcy, citing $7.4 billion in ‘unsustainable debts’. Now, the company is looking to rapidly offload its mobile phone networks across the Pacific region, including in Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Tonga and Samoa.   But potential buyers could be problematic on a political level.
