Primary role purpose The next few years will see the exciting realisation of business opportunities on Inmarsats existing fleet of Lband satellites and the companys next generation Kaband satellites and services Global Xpress. Our aviation satcom market is growing rapidly Inmarsat is well positioned to expand its services in the sector and to significantly increase its revenue share of the market. Aviation safety services are a vital part of our solution portfolio. Aviation safety is a significant part of our investment in legacy and new service capabilities and infrastructure, and the staff resources to market and develop those business opportunities. This is a pivotal new position within the Aviation team responsible for defining and growing Inmarsats Aviation Safety Services revenues and market position , within the Growth Management and Support Business Unit. The principal objectives for the role are to Drive overall revenue performance and growth for Inmarsats safety services portfolio, comprising the longestablished Classic Aero and emerging SwiftBroadband Safety services, in all commercial aviation market segments. Launch and grow the SwiftBroadband Safety and flight operations Internet Protcol IP business and opportunities. To strengthen Inmarsats position as the undisputed market leader for Aviation safety services. Identify and define business propositions and promote innovative safety services, applications and solutions that achieve those objectives. The key part of this activity will be to market Inmarsats Aviation service solutions to potential users and other stakeholders such as Air Traffic Service Providers ATSPs and wider ecosystem players. Additionally the role will involve working with the wider Aviation team to direct the definition and delivery of Nose to Tail Connectivity to aircraft operators, and work with the Product and Service team to develop the safety services portfolio of services and applications, including integration with the SESAR Iris project. The primary purpose of this role is to establish and strengthen Inmarsat Aviation as the industry standard for safety services and to grow revenues in the global safety services operational communications market from Inmarsats Classic Aero and SwiftBroadband Safety service portfolio. Key responsibilities of the position This will be achieved by developing and marketing safety services globally directly to aircraft operators, OEMs, industry for and as part of the overall Inmarsat value proposition. The appointed individual will use their extensive knowledge of the aviation, safety services Air Traffice Service providers ATSPs, Air Navigtion Service Organisation ANSOsetc and aviation satcoms markets to define Inmarsats strategy and to lead the execution of this and growth of revenues from these services. Specific activities will include. Devising an Aviation Safety Services strategy. Devise a go to Market plan and competitor analysis for Aviation safety services. Define, establish and enhance existing and new ecosystem relationships for safety services and applications distribution partners, service and solutions providers, UT Manufacturers. Promote sell the value proposition to Inmarsats safety services ecosystem partners. Contribute to development of the Inmarsat Nose to Tail Connectivity strategy. Responsibility for meeting financial targets revenue, margin and addressing business growth and development opportunities for Aviation safety services and operational communications. Devise and manage practical demonstrations of Inmarsat Aviation safety services systems and applications to prospective customers and partners. Develop practical applications guides and user information to assist users of Inmarsat systems and services. Administrative and project management duties related to market activities will be important along with ensuring the Government Aviation business is managed by other Divisions but there may be a need for Aviationspecific support and expertise of Government partners and opportunities nominally managed by other Business Units BUs or Divisions. Essential knowledge and skills Experienced business market development manager with an engineering or technical background, who has a good amount of experience in Aviation satcom and terrestrial safety services and operational communications provision. OR An extensive experience within the area of air traffic service provision data communications, Information Technology and solutions for a civil aviation authority, aircraft operator or similar. The role requires a competent individual who can form effective relationships, manage and drive ecosystem partners, while having the technical and commercial capabilities, to assist them to succeed. Identify and develop new opportunities and new initiatives and implement the programmes start to finish. International sales or business development experience. Experience and or appreciate of the Business to business B2B and institutional liaison elements of this role. Strong knowledge of IP applications and data solutions. Strong analytical skills. The working language is English and the role requires a high level of communication skills. Additional foreign language skills are highly desirable.
