This post is classified in the A2A4 grade band of the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. LOCATION ESTEC, Noordwijk Netherlands with resident assignment to ESRIN, Frascati Italy. DUTIES The postholder will be assigned as integrated support in the function of Avionics Software Engineer to the Vega Development Programme, Launchers Development Programme Department, Directorate of Launchers and will report to the Launcher Avionics, GNC and Software Manager. The duties of the integrated support post will include performing and assessing tradeoffs relevant to the Vega avionics system architecture defining and maintaining subsystem specifications and ensuring optimisation and completeness of the applicable requirements, including ensuring their consistency with the launch vehicle and launch system specifications as well as with the operational specifications managing the development and qualification activities of the avionics units andor onboard software under the responsibility of the incumbent ensuring the proper application of Vega Project Standards and Management Rules supporting the definition and performance of tests and verification programme in the area of responsibility of the postholder, including reviewing and approving test results in the case of Vega software or avionics equipment evolution, reviewing and approving industry requirements specifications and assessing endtoend specified performance and delta qualification required supporting the Launch Vehicle Qualification Monitoring Officer in maintaining the status of qualification of avionics units andor onboard software coordinating, with the Vega Exploitation Team, the activities related to the manufacturing, integration and acceptance of avionics units andor onboard software and related subsystems coordinating, with the Ariane Exploitation Team, the treatment of evolutions and anomalies of common avionics units andor onboard software in the field of responsibility of the incumbent and assessing the potential impact on the Vega qualification status proposing new technologies and activities to be assessed in the frame of technology programmes in the areas of avionics andor onboard software monitoring the coherent and costeffective implementation of requirements from system level up to the lower application level including the impact of recurring costs monitoring the schedule and risks of the relevant procurements as well as the maintenance of uptodate related technical budgets supporting launch campaigns as necessary as qualification monitoring authority coordinating the specialised engineering support from the Directorate of Technical and Quality Management and CNESDirection des Lanceurs in the appropriate areas of competence. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in computer science andor electrical engineering or similar, with background and experience in embedded realtime systems. Extensive knowledge of modern software engineering as well as practical experience in realtime software systems is required. Knowledge of spacecraft systems engineering andor experience in the development, qualification of launchers and possibly operations of launch systems would be an advantage. Preference will be given to candidates showing comprehensive background of the Vega launch vehicle avionics and Vega launch system architecture, including Vega launch range and launcher operations excellent competence in the domain of avionics and onboard software development. Applicants should have good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment and to define and implement solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlines. In addition, they should have good analytical, organisational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to solving problems and an interest in innovative technologies. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language.
