(Telecompaper) The BBC has announced restructuring plans for its BBC Studios TV production arm. BBC Studios will continue to operate from seven bases, allowing it to draw on creative talent from around the UK. Core teams in specialist areas will be protected, with the changes resulting in the number of staff at BBC Studios being reduced by around 300. The changes will impact all the bases, with the biggest impact in England. If approved by the BBC Trust, BBC Studios will become a commercial subsidiary in 2017 so it can make programmes for other broadcasters.
