BICGRANT Engineers Deadline for applications 05062020 Client and Location The European Space Agency is ATGs biggest client. They are an international organisation with 22 member states with sites in the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, UK and Belgium. ESA is Europes gateway to Space! Job Description For our client, the European Space Agency ESA, we are looking for 3 BICGRANT Engineers for their location in ECSAT Harwell, UK and ESTEC Noordwijk the Netherlands. In particular, we are looking for 2 Engineers for BIC activities Task A and 1 for GRANT activities Task B to join their Business Application and Space Solutions Department. Tasks and Responsibilities Implement Business Incubation Centres BIC activities Task A Support member states ESA Space Solutions Programme S2 portfolio Daytoday contact with ESA S2 contractors supplierindustry. Support the preparation of the ESA Space Solutions procurement proposals. Monitor progress of ESA S2 startups and reporting. Provide support for activities promotion, training, ... taking place in the Member States. Coordinate with other stakeholders, internal and external to ESA. Support expert meetings, particularly selection campaigns meetings with local ESA S2 entities and partners. Assess highly innovative projects, particularly in terms of business plan assessment and assessment of the technical and operational requirements applicable to space derived technologies and applications and their integration in terrestrial products and services. Ensure timely internal and external reporting by ESA S2 entities and support where needed. Particularly maintaining a Microsoft Sharepointbased reporting system. Attraction and evaluation of project proposals Support ESA S2 contractors in the identification and characterisation of new products and services exploiting current and next generation of space technologies e.g. materials, sensors, robotics, software, etc and satellite systems e.g. Satcom, Earth Observation and Satellite Navigation and their integration in nonspace domains. Implement GRANT activities Task B Grant implementation Support TIAAM developing, implementing and improving ESA Initial Support for Innovation EISI processes proposal assessment, industry support, evaluation of results. Update the TIA Quality Manual with the new processes. Report of grant deployment. Grant reporting Data collection and analysis to produce the aggregated yearly grant reporting. Define and implement strategies to capture and analyse grant impact on SDG related data on ESA Space Solutions activities in the report. To provide the service in a satisfactory manner, travel to ESA establishments andor other European locations is foreseen. The Service will be provided in an international working environment. Requirements Essential requirements to implement BIC activities PhD or Msc in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Physics or Aerospace Engineering Significant experience in management of technology and innovation. Sound knowledge of the overall space applications market, and specific experience in specifying, developing, evaluating and promoting applications making use of technologies transferred from the space domain and the utilisation satellite systems. Sound knowledge of downstream space services and applications and with relevant space technologies i.e. satellite communications, navigation and earth observation. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Excellent analytical skills. High standard of document drafting. Ability to work with software reporting tools particularly Microsoft Sharepoint, as well as some familiarity to add features in these reporting tools. Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Proficiency in German andor Italian is desirable. Essential requirements to implement Grant activities PhD or Msc in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Physics or Aerospace Engineering Experience in innovation i.e., bringing products and services into market and early stage commercialization. Sound knowledge of Data Analytics Software e.g, Tableau, Python, Matlab, R Excellent analytical skills. High standard of document drafting. Familiarity with downstream space services and applications and with relevant space technologies i.e. satellite communications, navigation and earth observation. Experience using opensource Machine learningrelated frameworks e.g., NLTK, TensorFlow is desirable. Excellent communication and presentation skills are required for this service. Awareness of ESA and in particular various TIA space applications and ESA S2 programs is an asset. What do we offer?
