When Paul Gabbard steps down this week as general manager of the Martinez Shell refinery, he'll walk out the door with nearly 35 years of memories. He's hopped around the continent, working in five refineries and the corporate headquarters -- in operations, technology, maintenance and production -- but his legacy is the relationship he helped build with the Martinez community.
