(Telecompaper) Russian mobile operator Vimpelcom, working under the Beeline brand, has completed the project to launch a telecommunications backbone link connecting Europe and Asia. The length of the backbone, connecting Frankfurt and Khorog, totals 9,900 kilometres, and it crosses areas of China, Kazakhstan, Russia, FInland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany. The backbone is planned to be used for the transfer of all types of the telecommunications traffic and as reserve capacity in Russia. The project was carried out in cooperation with China Telecom and TNS-Plus.
