Mining stocks were also well supported despite flat to falling commodity prices overnight, as investors rediscovered their appetite for riskier pockets of the sharemarket. Banks stormed back into favour on Thursday, building momentum throughout the day as investors jumped back in to the heavily sold-off sector.
