Bill lowering sewage spill reporting requirements moves out of committee

2015-03-31 22:20:09| Waste Management - Topix.net

Senate Bill 912 would reduce reporting requirements for utility providers that spill less than 1,000 gallons of untreated and partially treated sewage as long as the spill is contained before it reaches waters of the state, including tributaries and lakes and does not threaten public or private sources of drinking water or endanger the environment and human health or safety. Texas law requires utility providers to report spills of any size to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality within 24 hours.
