(Telecompaper) Blackberry said it will ask securities regulators to investigate a report that its new phones have high return rates. Analyst firm Detwiler Fenton & Co said earlier that US retailers were seeing a high rate of customers returning the company's BlackBerry Z10 smartphone. BlackBerry said that sales are meeting expectations and return rates are in line with the rest of the industry. Its own data from operator and retailer partners shows customers are satisfied with the device, the company said. Blackberry has asked the US Securities and Exchange Commission and the Ontario Securities Commission to review the Detwiler report, saying it was either "a gross misreading of the data or a willful manipulation". Blackberry said Detwiler Fenton refused to make its report or methodology available to the company, even after it said the firm's findings were "absolutely false".
