BlackBerry introduces new security, BYOD services

2014-11-14 08:42:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) BlackBerry announced new partnerships and services for business customers at its Enterprise Portfolio Launch event in San Francisco.  The basis of the offering is the Blackberry Enterprise Server, now available as BES12 with support also for iOS, Android and Windows devices. BlackBerry said it already has agreements for Vodafone, Rogers, SingTel and many more mobile operators around the world to resell BES12. BlackBerry also agreed to integrate Samsung's Knox security platform into BES12 from next year, supporting Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets. For people using their personal device for work, BlackBerry introduced WorkLife. This allows enterprises to add a separate corporate phone number to personal devices or for the employee to add a separate personal phone number to a corporate device. This will enable voice, SMS and data usage to be charged to the company while all other usage is charged directly to the employee. BlackBerry is also targeting the security market more, with the introduction of the Enterprise Identity and VPN Authentication services. This will use the BlackBerry to manage secure access to cloud-based services and the corporate network. Also new is BBM Meetings, a collaboration app that supports voice and video conferences for groups of up to 25 people on BlackBerry 10 or Android smartphones, as well as Windows PC or Mac.
