Boehringer Ingelheim, Sanofi enter negotiations on business swap

Sanofi and Boehringer Ingelheim today announced that the companies have entered into exclusive negotiations to swap businesses — an exchange of Sanofi animal health business (Merial) and the BI consumer healthcare business. Merial has an enterprise value of 11.4 billion euros and the BI consumer healthcare business has an enterprise value of 6.7 billion euros. BI CHC business in China would be excluded from the transaction. The transaction would also include a gross cash payment from BI to Sanofi of 4.7 billion euros. read more
