Brazilian Companies Wrap Up Tender Offer for Chiquita Brands

WSOC-TV in North Carolina is reporting that investment firm Safra Group and juice company Cutrale Group have completed their tender offer for Charlotte-based banana producer Chiquita Brands International Inc. Chiquita agreed to be acquired this past fall by the two Brazilian companies for approximately $681 million. "The companies had put the transaction's value at about $1.3 billion, including the assumption of Chiquita's debt," notes the ABC affiliate.
