Britain tells Japan to aim for 40% reduction on greenhouse gases

Asahi Shimbun: Britain has urged Japan to set an ambitious target in cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. Edward Davey, the British secretary of state for energy and climate change, suggested Japan should slash emissions by at least 40 percent over the 2005 level. Tokyo has yet to submit its proposal despite the United Nations having set a March 31 deadline for countries to announce their goals for the period after 2020. Discussions are still continuing domestically over what the mix of options should...
