Brother of Samsung head dies

Lee Maeng-hee, the older brother of Lee Kun-hee, the de facto head of South Korea's top conglomerate Samsung Group, died on Friday in China at the age of 84. Maeng-hee is also the father of Lee Jae-hyun, the incumbent head of food and media conglomerate CJ Group, which left the Samsung family in 1993. A CJ Group official said Maeng-hee died in a Beijing hospital at 9:39 a.m. Maeng-hee underwent lung cancer surgery in Japan in 2012, and had been staying in China to recover, sources said.
