The prospect of a flying 10 hours each way to spend a long weekend watching rugby in Hong Kong or lying on the beach in Hawaii rather than staying at a destination far closer to home might sound far-fetched to some Australians, but experts say is a growing trend within the travel industry. Hawaiian Airlines has come up with new itineraries offering a traveller the chance to depart Sydney or Brisbane on a Friday evening and return on the Tuesday evening after three nights on the ground at Waikiki.
