As announced by Department of Justice and U.S. EPA, Houston-based CITGO Petroleum Corp (CITGO) agreed to pay $737,000 civil penalty and to implement projects to reduce harmful air pollution. This resolves alleged violations of Clean Air Act (CAA) at CITGO's petroleum refining facilities located in Lemont, IL and Lake Charles (Westlake), LA. Additionally, settlement requires CITGO to implement projects expected to reduce emissions of VOCs, including toxics, by >100 tons over next 5 years.
