Cablevision to Offer Wi-Fi Phone Service

Cablevision Systems Corp. said it will offer a Wi-Fi mobile-phone service starting next month, making it the first U.S. cable operator to take such a product to market. The new service, dubbed "Freewheel," will take advantage of the 1.1 million Wi-Fi hot spots that Cablevision has deployed in its greater New York service area since 2007.
