BusinessGreen: The European Union (EU) has welcomed a ruling by the World Trade Organisation (WTO) banning Canada from only offering incentives to renewable electricity suppliers with predominantly local supply chains.
The EU and Japan lodged complaints with the WTO in 2011 after the Canadian province of Ontario established a feed-in tariff programme for wind and solar power projects that demanded a high degree of local content.
