Carbon budget removes need for $US68b of Australian LNG investment

2015-07-07 04:24:53| Oil & Gas - Topix.net

Lower demand for fossil fuels due to climate change constraints has removed the need for any new investment in liquefied natural gas in Australia for the next 10 years, leaving $US68 billion of proposed projects on the shelf, according to high-profile UK-based research group Carbon Tracker. The group, whose 2013 report on "unburnable carbon" drew global attention, found that some 97 per cent of global LNG required through to 2025 can be met by projects that have already been committed to.
