Carers lose $50 presents

Community Services Minister Tony Simpson has been labelled a Christmas grinch for revoking the holiday tradition of giving a $50 gift voucher to grandparents bringing up grandchildren. Wanslea Family Services, the organisation the State Government funds to support grandcarers, has handed the Coles Myer gift cards to grandcarers in November to buy Christmas lunch or presents.
